Prepared by Radif Partners · Method · Diyanet lists and Law No. 2429 read on 28 October 2026
Turkey has 14.5 days of public holidays in 2027, and 12 of them fall between Monday and Friday. The list comes from Law No. 2429, while the dates of the two religious festivals come from the Diyanet's 2027 list of religious days. Ramazan Bayramı (Eid al-Fitr) runs 9–11 March 2027, with a half-day eve on Mon 8 March; Kurban Bayramı (Eid al-Adha) runs 16–19 May 2027, with the eve on Sat 15 May. Its fourth day coincides with Youth and Sports Day on Wed 19 May, so that date counts once, which is why the year is shorter than 2026 (15.5 days). 2 full holidays land on a weekend: Labour and Solidarity Day (Sat 1 May) and Eid al-Adha, day 1 (Sun 16 May); the Kurban eve also falls on a Saturday. Nothing is moved to a weekday. Someone on a Monday-to-Friday week has 250 working days. Holidays on a Friday or a Monday give 4 long weekends without any leave.
The 2027 holiday calendar month by month
The table gives each holiday with its month and weekday. A half day means the afternoon from 1 pm is off; the morning is a normal working morning.

Where the 14.5 days come from
The law lists seven fixed holidays: 1 January, 23 April, 1 May, 19 May, 15 July, 30 August and 29 October, the last one starting at 1 pm on 28 October. Add 3.5 days for Ramazan Bayramı and 4.5 for Kurban Bayramı and you reach 15.5 days on paper. In 2027 the last day of Kurban Bayramı is also 19 May, so the calendar holds 14.5. The overlap is simply counted once; no day is added elsewhere. In 2028 there is no such clash and the total goes back to 15.5 (public holidays 2028).
Are weekend holidays lost?
For anyone working Monday to Friday, yes. Labour and Solidarity Day (Sat 1 May) and Eid al-Adha, day 1 (Sun 16 May) are days off anyway, and Law No. 2429 has no rule to compensate them. The Kurban eve on a Saturday also costs half a day. Out of 14.5 holiday days, 12 fall on working days. On a six-day week, where Saturday is a working day, the figure rises to 13.5.
Article 2 of the law adds one more sentence: when a national or general holiday ends on a Friday evening, the following Saturday is a full day off. In 2027 that happens after Fri 1 January, Fri 23 April, Fri 29 October. It matters mainly for public offices open on Saturdays; in the private sector, practice varies by employer.
Long weekends that come for free
Three days in a row without leave: New Year's Day (Fri 1 January), National Sovereignty and Children's Day (Fri 23 April), Victory Day (Mon 30 August), Republic Day (Fri 29 October). On top of that, Ramazan Bayramı spans Tuesday to Thursday and Kurban Bayramı Sunday to Wednesday. Monday 8 March and Friday 12 March are bridge days around Ramazan Bayramı, and so is Friday 16 July after Democracy Day. With 10 days of leave, the 2027 bridge-day planner finds 32 days off across the year, in 4 separate blocks.

32 days off
| 1–10 January 2027 | 5 → 10 days |
| 6–14 March 2027 | 2 → 9 days |
| 15–23 May 2027 | 2 → 9 days |
| 15–18 July 2027 | 1 → 4 days |
Working on a holiday, and leave for civil servants
Working on a public holiday requires a clause in the contract or the employee's consent (Labour Act art. 44), and each day worked earns an extra day's pay; see the holiday pay calculator. Extra administrative leave around the festivals is decided separately for the public sector and nothing has been announced for 2027 (administrative leave 2027). For the festivals themselves, see Ramazan Bayramı 2027 and Kurban Bayramı 2027; for the whole year at a glance, the 2027 calendar.
