Kurban Bayramı (Eid al-Adha) 2027 begins on Sun 16 May and lasts four days, to Wed 19 May, according to the list of religious days published by the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet); its eve is Sat 15 May. Ramazan Bayramı (Eid al-Fitr) 2027 runs from Tue 9 March to Thu 11 March, with its eve on Mon 8 March. Under Law 2429 the eves of both feasts are holidays from 1 pm, so the Eid al-Fitr holiday lasts 3.5 days and the Eid al-Adha holiday 4.5 days. Turkey does not move holidays that fall on a weekend. In 2027 the eve of Kurban Bayramı is a Saturday and its first day a Sunday, so an employee with weekends off gets 5 days without leave, or 9 days with two leave days. Ramazan Bayramı falls midweek: 3 days without leave, 9 with two. Over the whole year there are 14.5 days of public holidays, leaving 250 working days for a Monday-to-Friday employee. Administrative leave for the public sector around the 2027 feasts has not been announced yet. As of today, Kurban Bayramı is 200 days away.

How many days off will the 2027 feasts give?
Two things set the length of the break: which days of the week the feast falls on, and whether you have weekends off. In 2027 the two feasts look very different. Ramazan Bayramı runs Tuesday to Thursday with the eve on Monday; the Friday is a bridge. Kurban Bayramı, on the other hand, has its first two days on the weekend, and its fourth day coincides with 19 May, Commemoration of Atatürk, Youth and Sports Day. Only part of the 4.5 days set by law therefore falls on working days.
| Feast | Dates | No leave | With 2 leave days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ramazan Bayramı | 9–11 March 2027 | 3 days | 9 days (6–14 March 2027) |
| Kurban Bayramı | 16–19 May 2027 | 5 days | 9 days (15–23 May 2027) |
These figures are for an employee who works five days and has Saturday and Sunday off. Where Saturday is a working day the picture changes; choose “Working week” in the tool to see it. For Kurban Bayramı, seven leave days join two weekends into a 16-day break: 8–23 May 2027.
Kurban Bayramı (Eid al-Adha) 2027: with 2 leave days
Kurban Bayramı (Eid al-Adha) 2027: with 2 leave days
9 days off
| First day off | Sat 15 May |
| Back to work | Mon 24 May |
| Leave used | 2 days |
| Leave dates | 20 May, 21 May |
Over the whole year, the most efficient plan puts leave next to the feasts and the midweek holidays. With 10 leave days you can be off 32 days in 2027; the same leave gives 25 days in 2028, because most 2028 holidays fall on weekends. Details are on bridge days 2027, and your statutory entitlement on annual leave in Turkey.

Bayram holidays, eves and leave: what to know
Where do the bayram dates come from?
In Turkey the feast dates are set by the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet), which publishes a list of religious days for each year. The Diyanet fixes the start of Hijri months in advance by astronomical calculation, without waiting for a sighting: the crescent must be visible somewhere on Earth, meaning at least 8 degrees from the sun and 5 degrees above the horizon (Diyanet definitions). That is why the 2027 list and the 2028 list are already known.
Some countries wait for the crescent to be seen with the naked eye, so the feast there may start a day earlier or later. The Diyanet's note on Hijri calendar differences explains why. In Turkey the public holiday always follows the Diyanet's date. The Hijri year is about eleven days shorter than the solar year, so both feasts move about eleven days earlier every year; the table on bayram dates 2026–2035 shows the drift.
Half-day eves and the weekend rule
Law 2429 on national and general holidays defines Ramazan Bayramı as 3.5 days and Kurban Bayramı as 4.5 days, each starting at 1 pm on the eve. 28 October is also a holiday from 1 pm. The eve morning is therefore a normal working day and the afternoon is off. If the eve falls on a weekend, the half day is simply lost.
The law provides no compensation for holidays on weekends. In 2027 Labour and Solidarity Day falls on a Saturday, the eve of Kurban Bayramı on a Saturday and its first day on a Sunday. Of the 14.5 days of holidays in 2027, 12 therefore fall on weekdays. 2028 is worse: only 7 of 15.5 days are weekdays; Ramazan Bayramı runs 26–28 February 2028 and Kurban Bayramı 5–8 May 2028. More on is the eve a half day.
Administrative leave and bridge days: what is known
Administrative leave for public employees before or after a feast is not in the law; it is announced each time by a Presidential circular published in the Official Gazette. We checked every issue of the Official Gazette from 1 January 2026 to 27 October 2026, extra issues included: no administrative leave for 2027 has been published. The site therefore shows 2027 administrative leave as “not announced yet”; we do not guess.
Administrative leave does not bind the private sector. An employer may grant the same days as paid leave, but is not required to. A private-sector employee who wants a bridge uses annual leave. The days that give the most time off are calculated on bridge days 2027 and administrative leave 2027.
Ramadan 2027 and the timetable
Ramadan 2027 begins on 8 February 2027; the first tarawih is on the evening before. Laylat al-Qadr is the evening of 5 March 2027. In this late-winter Ramadan, the fast in Istanbul lasts 12 h 1 min on the first day and 13 h 12 min on the last.
The times on the 2027 Ramadan timetable are computed for the 81 provincial centres with the Diyanet's published parameters. We compared the computation with the Diyanet's official calendar over 195,858 prayer times: 9,340.0% of imsak and 9,450.0% of iftar times match to the minute, the rest differ by one minute. For worship, the Diyanet's official times prevail. For daily use there is the iftar countdown.
Working on a feast day, pay and leave rights
Under Labour Code 4857, whether work is done on public holidays is set by the collective or individual contract; failing that, the employee must agree. An employee who works on a holiday receives an extra day's pay for it (Art. 47). The daily wage is the monthly wage divided by 30. The calculation is on holiday pay.
Annual leave is 14, 20 or 26 days depending on length of service (Art. 53). Public holidays within a leave period are not counted as leave (Art. 56), so putting leave next to a feast buys a longer break for the same days. For civil servants, Law 657 provides 20 or 30 days.
How this site works
Every date on the site comes from a calculation engine: feasts and holy nights are read from the Diyanet list, holiday lengths from the law, and each page shows its reading date. Counters run on Turkey time, UTC+3. The province, year or leave days you choose are never sent to a server; the calculation happens in your browser. The site is published by Radif Partners and carries no donation, affiliate or referral links. The full method is on the method page.
Common questions
When is Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayramı) 2027 in Turkey?
According to the Diyanet's 2027 list it starts on Sun 16 May, lasts four days and ends on Wed 19 May. The eve is Sat 15 May, a holiday from 1 pm under Law 2429. This year the eve is a Saturday and the first day a Sunday, so a Monday-to-Friday employee gets 5 days off without leave.
When is Eid al-Fitr (Ramazan Bayramı) 2027 in Turkey?
From 9 March 2027 to 11 March 2027, three weekdays. The eve is 8 March 2027, the day of the last fast of Ramadan, with the afternoon off. The Friday after the feast is a bridge day: two leave days, for the eve morning and the Friday, stretch the break to 9 days.
Is a bayram holiday extended when it falls on a weekend?
No. Law 2429 gives no replacement day for a public holiday that falls on a weekend. The break is extended only when the Presidency grants administrative leave to civil servants; that decision is published in the Official Gazette and does not bind private employers. In the private sector, a longer break means using annual leave or agreeing with the employer.
Is the eve (arefe) a full day off?
No, half a day. Under Law 2429 the eves of Ramazan and Kurban Bayramı are holidays from 1 pm, and the morning is a normal working day. If the eve falls on a weekend, the lost half day is not replaced. Leave taken for the eve morning may count as half a day or a full day, depending on the workplace.
What is the pay for working on a bayram day?
Under Article 47 of the Labour Code, an employee who works on a public holiday receives an extra day's pay for that day, so two days' pay in total; an eve afternoon counts as half a day. Holiday work is set by the collective or individual contract, or else requires the employee's consent. The calculator shows the gross amount.
Are the dates on this site official?
Feast, holy-night and Ramadan dates come from the Diyanet's published lists and holiday lengths from Law 2429, both official. The Ramadan timetable is computed and differs from the Diyanet calendar by at most 1 minute; for worship the official calendar prevails. Each page shows the date on which its sources were read.
Is anything I enter sent anywhere?
No. The province, year, leave days or wage you choose are processed in your browser only; nothing is sent to a server or stored. There is no account, form or sign-up. Your choices are written only into the address bar so that you can share the result; whoever opens the link sees the same calculation.
