In Istanbul the first fast of Ramadan 2027 falls on 8 February 2027, a Monday. That morning the fast begins at 06:35 (imsak) and ends at 18:36 (iftar), so it lasts 12 h 1 min. The first suhoor and the first tarawih prayer come the night before, on Sunday 7 February. The last fast is Mon 8 March: imsak 05:57, iftar 19:09, 13 h 12 min without food or drink. Laylat al-Qadr is the evening of Fri 5 March, when iftar is at 19:05, and Eid al-Fitr (Ramazan Bayramı) starts on Tue 9 March. We compute every time ourselves with the parameters the Diyanet uses, then check them against the official Diyanet calendar for Istanbul: 96.6% of the values match to the minute and none is more than 1 minute out. For the fast itself, follow the official calendar. Across the month iftar moves 33 minutes later and imsak 38 minutes earlier.
Week by week
Ramadan 2027 runs from late winter into early spring, so each day gains a few minutes of light at both ends. Five dates sum up the month; the full list sits in the tool above.
| Date | Imsak | Iftar | Length of fast |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday 8 February 2027 | 06:35 | 18:36 | 12 h 1 min |
| Monday 15 February 2027 | 06:27 | 18:44 | 12 h 17 min |
| Monday 22 February 2027 | 06:18 | 18:53 | 12 h 35 min |
| Monday 1 March 2027 | 06:08 | 19:01 | 12 h 53 min |
| Monday 8 March 2027 | 05:57 | 19:09 | 13 h 12 min |
From the first week to the last, suhoor ends 38 minutes earlier and iftar arrives 33 minutes later, a fast 71 minutes longer overall. Early February is the tightest for commuters trying to be home for iftar. The iftar countdown shows the minutes left in real time.
European side, Asian side, neighbouring provinces
The calculation uses one point: the provincial centre on the European side (latitude 41.01, longitude 28.96). Because the sun travels east to west, every degree of longitude is worth about 4 minutes. Istanbul is wide, so districts out towards Şile see sunset before the centre, while Silivri and Çatalca see it later. That is why the Diyanet publishes a separate calendar for each district.
The same rule applies beyond the city. On the first fast, iftar comes 4 minutes earlier in Kocaeli and 6 in Sakarya, but 5 minutes later in Tekirdağ and 8 in Edirne. Across the Sea of Marmara, the Bursa timetable is almost identical to Istanbul's.
Our figures against the official calendar
Imsak is the moment the sun is 18 degrees below the horizon (true dawn); iftar is sunset plus a 7-minute safety margin. We compared the results with the Diyanet calendar for Istanbul over 403 days: 96.6% match exactly and the largest gap is 1 minute. Two sample days:
| Date | Imsak (computed) | Imsak (Diyanet) | Iftar (computed) | Iftar (Diyanet) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 February 2027 | 06:35 | 06:35 | 18:36 | 18:36 |
| 8 March 2027 | 05:57 | 05:57 | 19:09 | 19:09 |
When in doubt, the official Diyanet prayer times take precedence for worship. The imsak and suhoor page explains exactly when the pre-dawn meal must end.
Qadr night, the eve and Eid
Laylat al-Qadr is the evening of Friday 5 March 2027; Istanbul breaks the fast at 19:05 and the night of prayer follows tarawih (Laylat al-Qadr 2027). Monday 8 March 2027 is both the last fast and the eve of Eid, with iftar at 19:09. The first day of Eid is Tuesday 9 March 2027; the days off are on Eid al-Fitr 2027.
A year later: Ramadan 2028 in Istanbul
The Hijri year is about 11 days shorter, so in 2028 the fast starts in January. On Friday 28 January 2028 Istanbul has imsak at 06:44 and iftar at 18:22, a fast of 11 h 38 min. The last fast is Friday 25 February 2028, iftar 18:56. For the whole country see Ramadan timetable 2027 and Ramadan 2027.
