Ramadan 2027 begins in Ankara on the morning of Mon 8 February. The first suhoor must end by 06:19, the first iftar is at 18:22, and that fast lasts 12 h 3 min. The capital breaks its fast 14 minutes before Istanbul at the start of the month and 15 minutes before it at the end. The final fast falls on Mon 8 March: imsak 05:42, iftar 18:54, 13 h 12 min in all. Laylat al-Qadr is the evening of Fri 5 March, with iftar at 18:51, and Eid al-Fitr begins on Tue 9 March. This timetable was not copied from a list: we computed it with the Diyanet's angles and safety margins, then compared it with the Diyanet's own Ankara calendar. Ankara scores 98.2%, the best match among the ten largest cities; every other value is 1 minute out. For worship, the official Diyanet calendar remains the reference.
Three key days in the capital
The first fast, Laylat al-Qadr and the eve of Eid are the dates people look up most. The table puts Ankara's iftar next to Istanbul and Konya for comparison.
| Day | Ankara | Istanbul | Konya |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monday 8 February 2027 | 18:22 | 18:36 | 18:27 |
| Friday 5 March 2027 | 18:51 | 19:05 | 18:53 |
| Monday 8 March 2027 | 18:54 | 19:09 | 18:56 |
Ankara's first fast lasts 12 h 3 min and its last 13 h 12 min. The average, 12 h 36 min, is close to Istanbul's; what differs is the clock time at which each fast starts and ends.
Why a quarter of an hour separates Ankara and Istanbul
Central Ankara lies at 32.84 degrees east, Istanbul at about 28.96. Roughly 4 degrees at 4 minutes a degree explains the 14 to 15 minute gap at iftar. At dawn the gap grows to 16 minutes because Ankara is further south, where late-winter daybreak comes a little sooner. The Diyanet gives worked examples on its latitude and longitude page.
From Eskişehir to Kayseri
On the first day, relative to Ankara: Eskişehir breaks the fast 10 minutes later and Konya 5 later, while Kırıkkale is 3, Çankırı 4 and Kayseri 8 minutes earlier. Inside the province, western districts such as Polatlı or Beypazarı see sunset slightly after the centre and eastern ones slightly before, so district calendars from the Diyanet apply there. The full southern neighbour is on the Konya timetable.

How close to the official calendar?
Imsak is computed with the sun 18 degrees below the horizon (imsak), iftar as sunset plus a 7-minute margin. Every Ankara time from late 2026 to the end of 2027 was checked against the Diyanet: 98.2% identical, the rest 1 minute apart. On day one, for instance, the official calendar shows imsak 06:19 and iftar 18:22. The official Diyanet prayer times have the final word.
