No administrative leave has been announced in Turkey for 2027. Every issue of the Official Gazette from Thu 1 January to Tue 27 October 2026, extra issues included, was checked and none contains administrative leave for the 2027 festivals; this site never assumes leave that has not been announced. Administrative leave is granted to public-sector staff by a presidential circular for working days before or after a festival, and is decided separately each year. It does not automatically cover private-sector employees. If a decision comes, the dates are clear. Ramazan Bayramı (Eid al-Fitr) runs 9–11 March 2027, so the days that would make a 9-day break are Mon 8 March and Fri 12 March; the first is the eve, whose afternoon is already off. For Kurban Bayramı (Eid al-Adha) the equivalent days are Thu 20 May and Fri 21 May. You can get the same result without waiting: two days of annual leave per festival give 9 days off for Eid al-Fitr (6–14 March 2027) and 9 for Eid al-Adha (15–23 May 2027).

Where things stand: no decision

The daily and extra issues of the Official Gazette from 1 January 2026 to 27 October 2026 were reviewed one by one. No circular granting administrative leave to public staff for Ramazan Bayramı or Kurban Bayramı 2027 has been published. None of the figures below therefore assumes it: the festival breaks are worked out from the statutory days and weekends only. If a decision is published, only its text will say which days it covers, who it applies to, and whether the time has to be made up later; until then we make no assumption about it.

What administrative leave is, and how it differs from annual leave

Annual leave is a right: for civil servants, article 102 of Law No. 657 sets it at 20 or 30 days depending on service, taken from the person's own balance. Administrative leave is not a yearly statutory allowance; for periods such as the days around a festival, a presidential circular decides that public institutions close on given days. Without a circular, civil servants work on those days. Find your own entitlement with the annual leave calculator.

Which 2027 dates are in play?

Ramazan Bayramı starts on Tuesday 9 March 2027 and ends on Thursday 11 March 2027; the eve is Monday 8 March 2027. Without administrative leave the break is 3 days, 9–11 March 2027. Closing the eve morning and the Friday after the festival joins two weekends and gives 9 days, 6–14 March 2027. With leave for the eve morning only, it is 6 days.

For Kurban Bayramı the eve is Saturday 15 May 2027, already a weekend day. The festival runs Sunday to Wednesday, so without leave the break is 5 days, 15–19 May 2027. The days that would make it nine are Thu 20 May and Fri 21 May. Details on Ramazan Bayramı 2027 and Kurban Bayramı 2027.

What you can do without waiting

The way to plan without knowing whether administrative leave will come is to book the same days as annual leave. Civil servants may take leave in parts at times the superior approves (Law No. 657, art. 103); for employees, splitting leave needs the employer's agreement. Two days per festival, four in all, give two separate 9-day breaks in the year. If administrative leave is announced later, leave you have not yet used may be rearranged with your superior or employer. For other options see the holiday length calculator and bridge days 2027; every holiday of the year is on public holidays 2027.

Common questions

Is there administrative leave in Turkey in 2027?

Not so far. The issues of the Official Gazette covering 1 January – 27 October 2026, extra issues included, were checked and no decision on administrative leave for the 2027 festivals was found. Every 2027 figure on this site is therefore based on the statutory holidays and weekends only. If a decision is published, the days and institutions it covers will be added here.

Which days could be administrative leave for Eid al-Fitr 2027?

With the festival on weekdays, 9–11 March 2027, the working days that would make a 9-day break are Mon 8 March and Fri 12 March. If only Fri 12 March were granted, the break would run 9–14 March 2027, 6 days. These are only what the calendar allows; which day, if any, becomes administrative leave is up to the decision itself.

Does administrative leave apply to private-sector workers in Turkey?

No. It is granted to staff of public institutions. In the private sector, taking the same days off needs annual leave or an agreement with the employer; the public holidays in Law No. 2429 apply to everyone. Administrative leave is also separate from a civil servant's annual leave under article 102 of Law No. 657, which is 20 or 30 days.
