As of 28 October 2026, the next holiday is Ramazan Bayramı (Eid al-Fitr), starting on Tue 9 March, 132 days away. Kurban Bayramı (Eid al-Adha) is 200 days away and begins on Sun 16 May. Ramadan comes first: the first fast is on Mon 8 February, in 103 days, and Laylat al-Qadr falls on the evening of Fri 5 March. The counter takes these dates from the religious-days list of the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) and measures the time left until the first day begins at midnight Turkey time. It also works abroad: the time left is the same whatever your time zone, and only "today" on screen follows your device clock. Because the public holiday begins at 1 pm on the eve, many people leave work a day and a half earlier: the Eid al-Fitr eve is Mon 8 March, the Eid al-Adha eve Sat 15 May.

When exactly does the holiday start?
In calendar terms the feast begins at midnight on its first day, and that is the moment the counter aims at. In daily life it opens with the bayram prayer after the dawn prayer. The public holiday starts earlier: Law No. 2429 makes the eve a holiday from 1 pm. "Hours until I leave work" is therefore about eleven hours shorter than the time until the feast. In 2027 the Eid al-Adha eve falls on a Saturday, so for people with weekends off that gap disappears.
How long the holiday lasts
Eid al-Fitr lasts three days and Eid al-Adha four; with the eve afternoon the law counts 3.5 and 4.5 days. How long you are actually off depends on weekends and on the leave you take.

Why the dates do not move
Some countries announce the feast the night before, once the crescent has been sighted. In Turkey the Diyanet fixes the start of each Hijri month by calculation, years in advance: it is enough for the crescent to be visible anywhere on Earth. The holiday dates up to 2035 are therefore known today and the counter will not be caught out at the last minute.
How many days until Ramadan?
The "Ramadan (first fast)" option counts down to the first day of fasting. The first pre-dawn meal is eaten in the early hours of Monday 8 February 2027, and the first tarawih prayer is held the evening before. During Ramadan a separate counter shows how many minutes are left until iftar.
